The Souls of Black Folk is written by W. E. B. Du Bois, an American historian and civil right activist. His groundbreaking work considered to be this very same book written based on his own experiences of being an African-American.

The Souls of Black Folk, is also a biographical work, the author argues and defend the negative stereo types of blacks as violent and lazy, as the result of white people treatment. He describes Blacks view of world is vastly differs from the white people. He also argues against fellow African-American, Booker T. Washington on education being and should not be focused on industrial education, but should spread across classical education also. He also wrote short biographies about famous African-American personalities like Alexander Crummell, the black priest of Episcopal Church.
