Stevenson narrates his travel through Belgium, in his travel literature An Inland Voyage. Sir Walter Grindlay Simpson, a friend of Stevenson was a companion in the travel and both of them had to face many hurdles including getting a jail term.  Along-with An Inland Voyage, he wrote many such works like Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes and The Silverado Squatters to earn money in his early days of literary career.
